ASIWYFA } S is For Salamander (Live)
I will be seeing ASIWYFA play live in Birmingham again tomorrow night. They are a definite favourite band of mine at the minute — I love the structure of all their music and love their energy on stage.
Pointe Blank } Coppélia
I was recently asked to take part in an exhibition for Birmingham Royal Ballet. Myself and 26 other artists and designers were invited to produce a piece of artwork in the form of a poster that would depict the story of Coppélia.
For my submission (shown above) I wanted to mimic the way Dr Coppélius gave Coppélia human characteristics.
The final result was a trace of a photo I took of the large cut-out letters, I am still undecided as to whether I should have just used the photo I took.
Check out all the other great submissions here.
New Job
For those of you that don’t know, I have a new job at Gingernut in Birmingham. I start in a few weeks and can’t wait to tackle new challenges and to start producing conceptual design for a good cause whilst working within a creative, happy team of people — the Gingernuts.
Some of my favourite projects of theirs are shown above and more of their work can be viewed here.
OCAD University Identity
Me and my girlfriend visited OCAD University whilst on a visit to Canada in 2009. The building is truly modern and I was chuffed when I saw this new identity.
The basic logo acts as a canvas, featuring different students art and design work and the black frame is based on patterns found on the exterior of the building.

Rika Magazine
Unique typography and layout for fashion magazine Rika. I particularly enjoy the contrast of the clean, thin typeface and bold, colourful hand drawn type that runs throughout the magazine.
Design by NR2154.
Corinthia Adverts
I love these adverts for Corinthia Hotel that are featured in the latest issue of Monocle Magazine. The adverts are really refreshing and stand out from the traditional hotel advert that features a standard interior photo. They communicate key features in a humorous and simplistic way.

Meat & Bread
Came across this fantastic identity yesterday on the Graphic Exchange website. The animal illustrations are superb and sit really well with the typography.

Jobplot Interview
I had a little interview with Jobplot recently. You can see the full thing on their website_
Rosendahl Watches } Arne Jacobsen Design Icons
I came across these handsome watches whilst in Stockholm recently. The designs are based on Arne Jacobsen wall clocks - Banker’s, Roman and City Hall. Each watch is simply a scaled down version of the original wall clock and come in three different sizes.
Demian Conrad Design } Gabbani
I discovered DCD the other day…what a find. Their portfolio of work is the most inspiring graphic design I have come across in a while. Each project is completely different but all done to a consistent high level of quality.
The project pictured above (Gabbani) is one of my favourite projects featured on their website and is a good example of the stunning design you can expect to see.
Take a look at this beautifully detailed digital orrery animation - created by Piotr Kaczmarek - Click on the image and you can view the solar system according to the Copernican (sun-centered) or Tychonian (earth-centered) model.
